Obituary

…retired from Tewksbury Hospital; 84
TEWKSBURY - Anne C. (Dillon) Roux, age 84, died peacefully on Monday evening, October 14, after a long period of declining health. She was the devoted wife of Victor L. Roux, with whom she had celebrated a 65th anniversary on June 12th.
She was born in Lowell, one of three children of the late Henry D. “Grampy” and Anna C. “Grammy” (Leary) Dillon, and was a lifelong Tewksbury resident. In her youth, she was active in Girls Scouts, and while raising her children, active in the Parent Teachers Association, volunteered as a “room mother” at the North Street School, and volunteered as a monitor for numerous school trips. She also passed many evenings in the company of her friends during their weekly “sewing club” gatherings. After raising her family, she began a career at the Tewksbury Hospital’s Treasurers Office, where she retired as the custodian of Patient Accounts after more than 20 years of service. She maintained friendships with many of her coworkers, or the “golden girls,” she had befriended over the years, with weekly luncheon meetings long into her retirement.
Mrs. Roux was a lifetime communicant of St. William’s Church.
She will be remembered for her warm and caring smile, her devotion to her family, and her selfless and caring love, especially for the decades she cared for her “special” now deceased brother-in-law, “Uncle Louis.”
Besides her husband, Victor, she leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence “Larry” Roux and his wife Tricia (Hanneman) of Alabama, formerly Merrimac, two daughters and sons-in-law, Lois Collins and her husband Terrance of Tewksbury, and Linda (Dane) Chestnut and her husband James “Cocoa” of Sebastian, FL; her 'chosen daughter' JoAnn McAllister of Cape Cod; eight grandchildren, Stephen Roux, Daniel Roux, and Andrea Gardner, Victoria Dane-Jones, Sarah Rondeau, Bethany Dane and Sean Dane, and Maria Rastas: 16 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry D. Dillon and his wife Rose (Sacco) of Andover; a sister, Carol A. Isabelle of Tewksbury; her cousin Gladys “Liz” Whitler formerly of Shirley; and many nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, October 18, in St. William's Church. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105-1942, will be appreciated.
