Obituary

CHICOPEE – Lawrence R. “Larry” Duval, 71, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, October 14, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on September 17, 1942, one of 11 children of the late Leo E. and Blanche (Giguere) Duval. He attended Chicopee schools and was a lifelong resident of the city. He was employed for 20 years as a unibody frame technician at Rick’s Auto Body in Springfield and retired in 2011. He was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to share his many stories about “the one that got away”. He was a quiet man who showered his family with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Rosalie C. (Tanguay) Duval. They were married on March 14, 1961 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Lisa C. Lacosse and her husband, Dean, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, Lawrence R. Duval of Willimansett, Lana M. Duval of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, and Angela Cole and her fiancé, Greg Irwin, of South Hadley; his five cherished grandchildren who will miss their “Papa”, Nathan Lacosse and his fiancée, Kim Andrews, Alicia Lacosse, Caitlin Mogilka, and Jessica and Samantha Cole; his two dear brothers, Leo Duval of West Springfield, and Armand Duval and his wife, Alice, of Belchertown; his dear sister, Doris Dzuris and her husband, Robert, of Chelmsford, MA; his dear sister-in-law, Priscilla Duval of Chicopee; his two dear sisters-in-law of the Tanguay family, Claire George and her companion, Homer Blair, and Elaine Boisvere and her husband, William, all of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces and extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his five dear brothers and two dear sisters, Richard, Roger, Raymond, Roland and Ernest Duval, Edna Prevette and Alice Kiel; and his two dear brothers-in-law of the Tanguay family, Normand and Ronald Tanguay. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning, October 19, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private at the convenience of the family. At his request, there are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children (Specify Springfield), 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
