NATICK: Roy Dean Humphrey, 84, died peacefully surrounded by his family on October 11, 2013 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Worcester on December 8, 1928 the son of the late Alfred Humphrey and Anna (Casavant) Humphrey.
Roy is survived by his children Sheila M. Humphrey of Orange and Thomas F. Humphrey of Ashland. He was the grandfather of Krissey A. Regan and her husband Matthew of Marblehead; Douglas M. Imperi and his wife Terri of Buffalo, NY and Jennifer Donovan and her husband Patrick of Williamstown, VT. Great-grandfather of Douglas Imperi, Jr.; Phillip Imperi; Domenic Imperi; Colin Imperi; Julian Imperi; Jacob A.P. Matthews and Nicholas Donovan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the husband of the late Shirley M. (Benway) Humphrey who died in December of 2000.
Roy has been a resident of Natick for the last 56 years and spent his formative years in Oxford and Webster. He served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. For several years he was associated with the Perini Corporation of Framingham. He worked many years with the tunnel operations for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts building the aqueducts throughout the state. He retired as a Machinist with the Continental Baking Company in Natick after many years of service. He loved residing on Lake Cochituate in Natick and spent countless hours fishing on its shores. He also enjoyed woodworking and raising orchids.
His family will receive family and friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2013 followed by his funeral service at 11:00 am at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road, (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Private family interment will he held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, his family suggests memorial gifts in Roy’s memory may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
