Obituary

Carleton R. “Carl” Packard age 68 of Taunton, died unexpectedly Friday October 11, 2013 at the Morton Hospital in Taunton. He was the devoted husband of Valgranina “Val” (Antonellis)Packard. Carl was born and raised in Brockton, a son of the late Irene (Seymour) and Robert B. Packard, Sr. and had been a resident of Taunton for the past 18 years. Following his graduation from Brockton High School in 1964, Carl enlisted in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

Carl had been a professional truck driver working with the Teamsters Union Local 653 and Highway Interstate Transportation in E. Freetown. Carl spent all of his free time at his camp in Tamworth, NH where he loved camping and canoeing and was a member of the New Hampshire Skimobile Club. He also enjoyed playing the piano, cruising and his dogs. Carl’s true joy in life was his wife and family gatherings.

Carl was the brother of Denise McLean and her husband Dennis of W. Bridgewater, Janice Boucher of Taunton and the late Robert B. Packard, Jr. He also leaves two generations of many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-8 pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 8 am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9 am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
