Obituary

On October 12, 2013, Margaret “Peg” (Jewett) Lipper age 88, died at St. Joseph Manor after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the beloved wife of the late G. Robert “Bob” Lipper for 34 years.

Margaret was born in Brockton on March 8, 1925 the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Cody) Jewett of Brockton. She graduated from Brockton High School in 1943 and went to work for the Edison Co. She married her high school sweet heart Bob, in 1948, and they started their family. She lost her husband and love of her life in 1982. Peg was a devoted full time mother to her 3 children before returning to the work force in 1967. She loved children and went to work for the Brockton School Department at the former Whitman School and later at Brockton High School as a special needs teacher’s aide until she retired in 1989. She built a home in Harwich on Cape Cod where she moved to spend her retirement years.

Margaret was a devout Catholic and former communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Harwich where she spent many hours at adoration after retirement to the Cape.

Peg created many special memories with her family and friends summering on Cape Cod at Campers Haven on Nantucket Sound. She enjoyed the ocean, beach, sailing, swimming, hiking and bird watching. She also enjoyed alpine skiing in the mountains of New Hampshire, Maine and Switzerland with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter Kathleen Lipper Brodil and her husband Arthur of Brockton; son Kevin Lipper and his wife Denise of Bridgewater; son James Lipper and his wife Karen of Colorado; two grandchildren Adriann Fonstein and her husband Matthew of Wakefield; Adam Lipper and his wife Molly of Mashpee; 4 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers William, James and Robert Jewett and her sisters Mary Aherne and Catherine Campbell.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte 123) Brockton on Tuesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:00am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 9:00am. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
