Shirley L. (Fortier) Lee, age 92 of Brockton, died Friday October 11, 2013 at the Copley at Stoughton after a period of failing health. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Lee for 47 years. Shirley was born and raised in Brockton a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Fortier and remained a lifelong resident of the city.
A 1940 graduate of Brockton High School, Shirley was a stay at home mom devoted to her home and family. She had been a member of the Brockton Council on Aging and loved playing bingo and bowling. She will be remembered for her humor and loving demeanor.
She was the mother of Joyce Darcy and her husband Robert of Brockton, Janet McDuffy of Franklin, Robert Lee of Brockton, Carolyn Dimestico and her husband Kevin of Brockton and the late John “Jack” Lee. She was the mother-in-law of Paula Lee and Scott McDuffy both of Brockton. She leaves her ten grandchildren Christopher and Timothy Darcy, Juliane Fisel, Ryan McDuffy, Megean Schoenberg, Jami Milnamow, Nicholas and David Lee, Casey and Jenna Dimestico and 14 great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Robert Fortier, Marjorie Morano, Joan Hunnewell, and Elaine Connors and an aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (rte 123) Brockton on Monday 4-7 pm. The procession will gather at the funeral home on Tuesday at 9:30 am for a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, W.Bridgewater.
