Obituary

Mary Ferguson Ridler Heuer, 94, of Plantation, Florida passed away June 28, 2013 at her home in Covenant Village surrounded by her family. Born in Worcester, MA, she lived most of her life in the Worcester area before retiring to Florida. Mary earned a nursing degree from St. Vincent Hospital School of Nursing. She worked in the hospital as a staff nurse and then later as a private duty nurse.

Mary, daughter of the late William and Margaret (Winchester) Ferguson, leaves her son, John F. Ridler and his wife Rosemary of Worcester, daughter Monica Ridler Pyle of Allentown, NJ and stepson, William F. Heuer, III and wife Loretta of Holliston, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Jeannette St. Thomas, Mary’s friend and companion for the past five years will miss her as will her friend and cousin, Philomene Winchester Murphy. Mary was predeceased by her husband of 40 years, William F. Heuer, Jr., in 2007 and her first husband of 25 years, John J. Ridler in 1965. Her two stepdaughters, Jeanne Heuer Eddy and Marianne Heuer McManus and her granddaughter, Melanie Ridler Desiata, predeceased her. Mary’s siblings, Sarah, Riordan and George, Robert, Walter and William Ferguson, all predeceased her.

Mary was an avid Red Sox and Patriot’s fan. She enjoyed golf, shuffleboard, bowling, crossword puzzles and all kinds of card games. She loved to go to parties and dance.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be missed by her family and friends and everyone whose life she touched.

Visitation with the family will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyona Drive, Auburn, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester, MA.

In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Mary’s generosity and compassion, you may wish to donate a bag of groceries to your local food pantry in her memory.
