NATICK: Mary “Marnie” Kelly-Crook, 43 died peacefully and comfortably surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Natick on October 9, 2013 following a dignified battle with cancer.
She was born in Syracuse, New York on May 20, 1970 the daughter of the late John Francis Kelly and Ruth Marie (Simpson) Kelly.
Marnie is survived by her devoted husband Thomas Raymond Crook of Natick. She was the cherished mother of Nathaniel Thomas Crook and Alexander John Crook both of Natick. Sister of Christopher Bernard Kelly of Houston, TX; Katherine Palumbo and her husband James of Camillus, NY; Anne Brunger and her husband Kurt of Baldwinsville, NY and Jonathan Kelly and his wife Maggie of Hamlin, NY. Daughter-in-Law of Howard A. Crook of Pennellville, NY and Sister-in-Law of Michael T. Crook of San Antonio, TX. Also survived by 2 nieces, 4 nephews and many friends.
Marnie spent her earlier years in Syracuse, New York and has resided in the Boston area for the past 17 years, including the past 7 years in Natick. She received her AS in Social Work from Cazenovia College in Cazenovia, NY; her BS as a Social Worker from Siena College in Albany, NY and her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in NYC, NY. She was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the local area establishing her own business, Marnie Kelly-Crook, Inc., assisting individuals in the field of mental health. She was a great listener and always helped people in their time of need. Marnie was devoted to her family and especially her boys, who were the center of her life. She loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends and traveling around the globe. She especially enjoyed living on the lake, being outdoors and caring for her gardens at home. Marnie was also involved in women’s ice hockey. She enjoyed many fun times with The Eagles as an ice hockey player, as well as the O’Thirties! She thoroughly delighted in the many friendships she established over the years.
Visitations will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Monday, October 14, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Good Shepherd Parish at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St, (Rte 27), Wayland,
Interment for her family will be private at Lakeview Cemetery in Wayland.
Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful team at Mass. General Hospital who cared for Marnie and to support advances in lung cancer research and care.
