TEWKSBURY - Jean C. (Barsamian) DiGiorgio, age 74, died peacefully, Thursday afternoon, October 10, at her home, surrounded by her beloved family, after a long and courageous battle with Kidney Disease. She was the beloved wife of Leonard J. DiGiorgio, who died in 2010.
She was born in Lowell, on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1939, a daughter of the late Charles and Claire (Pagaue) Barsamian. She was educated in the Immaculate Conception Parochial School in Lowell, and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School. She went on to Middlesex Community College. Except for several years in Lowell and Ohio, she had been a lifelong Tewksbury resident.
She worked as a reporter and photographer for the Dracut Dispatch Newspaper, and was widely known in the Bingo community as a reporter and photographer for the Bingo Bugle regional newspaper. She was also quite accomplished as a professional Astrologer.
Mrs. DiGiorgio volunteered as a CCD teacher at St. William’s Parish and was an active communicant of the church. She also volunteered at St. Joseph The Worker Shrine in Lowell.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sullivan of Orange, MA; a son, William Snelbaker of Tewksbury; was grandmother of Thomas Sullivan, and Keith Sullivan, both of Orange and the late Brandi Amy Jean Sullivan; was mother-in-law of Dennis Sullivan; sister of Charles Barsamian of Chelsea, Dennis Barsamian of Methuen, Nancy Saulnier and her husband William of Tewksbury, Charlene Tate of TX; and leaves many nieces and nephews.
Her Memorial Mass was held on Saturday, Oct. 189, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury.
