Thomas J. McLarney, age 95, died September 17, 2004 at home after a brief illness.
Born October 24, 1908 in Waterbury, Mr. McLarney was a son of Dr. Thomas J. and Julia Brennan McLarney. Dr. McLarney was a founding member of Saint Mary's Hospital and served on its first medical staff in 1908.
Mr. McLarney was educated at Saint Mary's Parochial School, Crosby High School, and Dartmouth College, class of 1930. Mr. McLarney was employed by the City of Waterbury throughout his distinguished political career as an authority in the election process. After his retirement he spent many years volunteering at Saint Mary's Hospital. He worked as a supporter and benefactor for Saint Mary's School and the Children's Community School in Waterbury.
In 1996, Mr. McLarney moved to Mystic where he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eleanor, a daughter, Eleanor M. Krusewski, and son-in-law, Robert V. Krusewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, September 20, 2004, at 11:00, in Saint Patrick Church, 32 East Main Street, Mystic. Burial will be private.
