Obituary

Mary Camarra Lombardi, 100 years of age, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 24, 2013. Mary had resided at Sutton Hill Nursing Home in North Andover for the past 12 years.

Mary was born in Methuen on October 8, 1912, the daughter of Francis and Civita (Bonanno) Camarra. She was predeceased by her siblings, Joseph, Anita, Clemente, Richard, Anthony, Genevieve, Valencia, Frank, Catherine, and Rose. She is survived by her sisters Rita Polito and Frances Danelian as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary earned her diploma from the Chicago School of Nursing and served her country as a neuro-psychiatric nurse at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C. After her honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1945, Mary owned and operated a nursing home in Andover, Massachusetts for many years.

Mary will be remembered by family and friends as having achieved a life-long dream when she celebrated her 100th birthday in 2012.

There will be no calling hours at Mary's request. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 o'clock on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
