Obituary

James “Jim” Edward Fitzgibbons of Londonderry passed away suddenly on October 6, 2013. Jim was born in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1962. He graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, NH, and the University of Massachusetts at Lowell with a degree in industrial engineering. He was an avid track and field athlete, who won the State Decathlon in 1981 for Pinkerton and still holds a track record there. After college Jim went to work for Bechtel, a worldwide engineering and construction company, where he held a variety of procurement and project management roles. With Bechtel he worked on projects in Cincinnati, Boston, Washington state, Montreal, China, and most recently in Houston. His engaging personality developed friends all around the country and across the globe. He was also skilled in high-end technical and advertising sales. Jim and his wife Jeannette own real estate and the Subway restaurant in north Londonderry.
Jim’s primary joy in life was his wife and children, and he enjoyed spending time with his family when he was not traveling. He supported his family’s participation in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Pathfinders, Destination-Imagination, and his children’s musical and sporting endeavors. He also participated in local school outreach programs through his employer. His hobbies included fly fishing, golfing, hiking, camping, drawing, and turning any house or creative project into something unique and extraordinary. His love of the cultural arts included a variety of movies, music, reading, the performance and graphic arts. He mentored other professionals through Business Networking International and Toast Masters. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors alike. His energy and enthusiasm were endless and infectious.
Jim is survived by his wife Jeannette (Persan) Fitzgibbons; his children Julia Rose (14), and twins James Henry and Jillian Hope (12) all of Londonderry; his mother Judith “Judy” Fitzgibbons of Londonderry; his father B. Edward “Ed” Fitzgibbons of West Palm Beach, FL; his sister Mary Fitzgibbons of Milford, CT and her adult twin daughters Ashley and Alysha Bullock; his sister Janet, her husband Robert, and their children Robby and Kelly Bukovic of Orlando, FL; his brother Aaron, his wife Christy, and their children Alex Dedousis, Joshua, and Mikayla Fitzgibbons all of Nashua, NH; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Calling hours were held at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry, on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 3-7pm. A liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry on Tuesday at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a trust set up at St. Mary’s Bank of Londonderry, NH in care of Jeannette Fitzgibbons for his children’s education. Any branch can accept donations.
