Mrs. Marlene Marie (Grant) Fischer, of Taunton, died August 26, 2001 in Morton Hospital following a brief illness. She was born November 17, 1944 in Taunton, the daughter of the late Henry (1920-1978) and Albina (1915-1998) Agnes (LeClair) Grant Jr. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Taunton and was a graduate of Bridgewater State College (June 1966) and St. Anne’s School of Nursing in Fall River. She taught 5th grade in Maynard, Mass. for several years. She was married to John G. Fischer, III on June 25, 1966 at St. Mary’s Church in Taunton and lived in Wellesley, Massachusetts for many years. A Registered Nurse, she was employed at the V.A. Medical Center in Brockton for ten years.
She loved to help others and always had a smile. We can never forget when she carried buckets of water to the back yard so the family and neighborhood kids could all go ice skating. She is at peace now and in the hands of God. Our prayers are said for her and we know she is looking down on her children with love, compassion and cheering us all on.
She leaves her ex-husband, John George Fischer, III, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sons, John George Fischer, IV and daughter-in-law Julie Ann (Meyer) Fischer of Colorado Springs, Colorado and David Grant Fischer and daughter-in-law Lillian Suzanne (Jakab) Fischer of Natick, Massachusetts; a daughter, Kristen Marie Fischer Harper of Odenton, Maryland; a sister, Theresa Ann (Grant) Fischer and brother-in-law William Anton Fischer of Hernando, Florida; a brother, Ronald Stuart Grant and sister-in-law Nancy Eva of Palm Bay, Florida; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Taunton.
Funeral services will be by the pastor at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, St Ann’s section, Taunton, will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting Hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home of Taunton.
