Mary Pauline McLaughlin, age 83. of Lowell, and a former longtime Woburn resident and school teacher, passed away Wednesday evening following a lengthy illness. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Marion L. (Smith) and John J. McLaughlin. Miss McLaughlin also resided in Buzzards Bay on Cape Cod and Gulfport, Florida.
She was raised in Woburn and received a degree in Education from the Lowell Teachers College. Most of her teaching career was at the Plympton School in Woburn. She was also an accomplished musician. She played piano and saxophone and was childrenĀ“s choir director at the Immaculate Conception Church in Winchester. Miss McLaughlin was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and St. Mary Church in Chelmsford. She was a member of the UMass Lowell Alumni Association, the Woburn Teachers Association, and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
In addition to her late parents, Mary is preceded in death by her sister Marion L. McLaughlin and her brother Dr. Lawrence S. McLaughlin. She is survived by her beloved sister Joan Roy of Westford and many devoted nieces and nephews who were a very important part of her life.
Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, Saturday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church, 79 Sheridan Circle, Winchester at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday 4 thru 8. Interment at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.
