Obituary

WEBSTER – Bernard Gryncewicz, 87, of Webster, died Friday, October 4, 2013 in Webster Manor surrounded by his family after an illness.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Phyllis T. (Konieczny) Gryncewicz; 4 sons, John J. Gryncewicz of Webster, Paul C. Gryncewicz of Virginia, Robert R. and his wife Donna M. Gryncewicz of Dudley and James C. Gryncewicz of Iowa; a daughter, Nancy L. and her husband Daniel W. Santerre of Thompson, CT; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Gryncewicz, Patricia Nelson, Laura Gryncewicz, PFC. Robby Gryncewicz, Katie Gryncewicz, Alyson Santerre and Andrew Santerre; 2 sisters, Theresa McTague of Cambridge and MaryAnn Graziano of Saratoga, CA; an aunt, Mary Ann J. Cygielnik of Webster; nephews and nieces.
He was born in Webster, son of Konstanty and Albina (Cygielnik) Gryncewicz. He lived here most of his life. He graduated from Bartlett High School in 1944.
He was an Army veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict, serving from 1944 to 1947 and again from 1950 to 1953. He was discharged with rank of staff sergeant.
Mr. Gryncewicz first worked at Ivanhoe Tool & Die in Thompson, CT. He then owned and operated Town and Country Equipment in Oxford for 15 years, retiring in 1987.
He was a lifelong member of Saint Joseph Basilica.
Mr. Gryncewicz’s family would like to thank the staff of Webster Manor for the exceptional care, compassion and love shown to him during his stay there. The staff became a second family to him.
The funeral will be held Saturday, October 12, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph Garden of Peace. The Webster-Dudley Veterans Council will perform the military honors at the cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, October 11 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., in the funeral home. The family requests donations in his name may be made to Webster Manor Patient Activity Fund, 745 School Street, Webster, MA 01570.
