Daniel J. Waldon, 52

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Daniel J. Waldon, age 52, of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, October 4, 2013 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was the beloved husband of Karen M. (Hedstrom) Waldon to whom he was wed for 28 years.
Born in Friendship, Wisconsin on October 17, 1960, he was a son of the late Harold and Katherine (Kearney) Waldo.
Dan grew up in Adams, Wisconsin and was a 1979 graduate of Adams Friendship High School. He furthered his education to become a 1984 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received his bachelor of science degree in Medical Micro-Biology & Bacteriology.
For the past 2 years he had been employed as a Pharmacokineticist at Biogen Idec in Cambridge. He had formerly worked at Amgen in Cambridge, at Guilford in Maryland and at Upjohn in Michigan.
A resident of Mansfield for the past 7 years, he had formerly resided in Maryland and Michigan. Dan loved outdoor activities which included camping, bicycling, and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed fly fishing and sailing, and when younger was an avid bow hunter. He had also been a member of the Courageous Sailing Club in Boston.
Dan was a devoted husband and father and was well respected by his colleagues and friends. He was a truly mechanically gifted person who had the knowledge and skills to fix about just anything. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethics, his responsible nature, and for always being there ready to lend a helping hand to others.
In addition to his beloved wife Karen, he is survived by his devoted daughters, Anna T. Waldon of Madison, Wisconsin and Lisa D. Waldon of Japan. He was the brother of Joann Waldo and Arnold Waldo both of Illinois and Jan Sellers and Cathy Rollins both of Wisconsin. He was the dear brother in law of Carol Gissing, Janet Eubanks, Muriel Hedstrom, Jan Hedstrom and Alan Hedstrom. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Kai Hedstrom.
Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, October 14th from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
A service in celebration of his life will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours at 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
