ROBERT H. RHODES, 88 of Ojai passed away on Friday October 4, 2013.
Robert was born November 11, 1924 in Oxnard and was a life long county resident. He was a U. S. Marine Corp Veteran serving in World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He and his wife have owned and operated the Meiners Oaks Ace Hardware Store on El Roblar Drive in Ojai for the past 38 years. The hardware store was his life! He enjoyed being there meeting customers and friends, helping customers meet their needs and complete their projects. The hardware store was voted and awarded the Readers Choice awards for the Best Hardware Store in Ojai. Robert, Betty, and theirs sons received this award many many years in a row.
At the age of 9 Robert got to dance with Shirley Temple. He tried Photography as a hobby and over the years purchased several Cameras. He enjoyed the sport of Football and watching Football with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years Betty Rhodes; his children Robert "Dusty" Rhodes Jr of Ventura, Matt Lettine and his wife Tonya of Ojai, Mike Lettine of Ojai, Susan Turner of San Diego, and Lisa Orcutt of Los Gatos; Grand children Shannon Turner, Justin Rhodes, Samantha Orcutt, and T.J. Orcutt.
