Obituary

Glenna Marie Morgan Akins, 67, of Tifton died Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at her residence. A graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Alapaha. Rev. James Irions will officiate with burial to follow. Jimmy Burham, Rick Harp, Sport Goddard, Joe Griner, Austin Griner and Henry Griner will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Ms. Akins was born on November 8, 1945 in Fulton County and was the daughter of George Morgan and Lena Langley Morgan, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by two brothers. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Ms. Akins is survived by her companion, Charles Griner of Tifton; two sons, Jimmy Hall of Peachtree City and William Hall of Baconton; one daughter, Connie Durren of Poulan; one step-son, Charles “Joe” Griner, Jr. and wife Donna of Irwin County; two step-daughters and their spouses, Reena and Oscar Walker of Clayton and Linda and Chad Hancock, of Tifton; four sisters, Ritha Turner of Hampton, Charlotte Hughes of Steinhatchee, Florida, Marilyn Bailey of Arabi and Cindy Ferguson of Morrow; and 17 grandchildren, Stephen, Michael, Sarah, Audrey, Kenny, April, Charlie, Alex, Landen, Leeann, Codey, Austin, Lindsey, Jared, David, Ashley and Nicole; and two great-grandchildren, Deanna and Raina Grace.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, Tift County Unit, P. O. Box 7514, Tifton, GA 31793.
