Peter F. Dias, Jr., 62 of Taunton, died peacefully at Brigham and Women’s Hospital on September 28, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was the beloved husband of Joan Marie (Cremeans) Dias.
Born and raised in Taunton, he was the son of the late Peter F. and Marie C. (Teixeira) Dias.
A graduate of Taunton High School, he later graduated from Holliston State College.
Mr. Dias was a respiratory therapist at Morton Hospital for 35 years before retiring in 2011.
He most enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as vacations on Cape Cod and throughout New England.
In addition to his wife of thirty-one years, he is survived by his children Christina Marie Dias and her husband Nimit Singh Sawhney of Brookline; son Ryan Jay Potter of Providence; son Richard Dennis Potter, Jr. of New Bedford; two precious granddaughters, Rachel Morgan Potter, and Victoria Joann (Potter) Boone and her husband Michael Boone, who are expecting Mr. Dias’s great-grandson Caleb in days.
He was the brother of Nadine M. Diaz of Taunton and the late John Michael Dias of Edgartown.
He also leaves mentor Chuck Williams and many beloved family and friends.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church, 31 First St. Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 4, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
