Obituary

Dartmouth - Edmund Rogers, age 89, died on Monday, September 30, 2013 at Emeritus Senior Living in Dartmouth. He was the beloved husband of the late Mabel (Pacheco) Rogers. Edmund was born in Fairhaven, a son of the late Maria (Costa) and the late Manuel Rogers. Prior to his retirement he worked as a superintendent for an estate management company. He was a proud member of the U.S. Navy and served during WWII on the USS Canberra CA-70. During his time of service, Mr. Rogers earned 6 medals of honor. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1 and Portuguese American Civic League of Dartmouth.
His surviving family includes his children: Sandra (Rogers) Roberts of Dartmouth, Kenneth Pacheco of Mattapoisett and Geraldine Easter of Winthrop, ME as well as 6 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great great grandchildren and he was the fiancée of Dolores Souza of Acushnet.
Mr. Rogers was predeceased by his wife Mabel and brother Joseph Rogers.
In accordance with his wishes Edmund was cremated, services will be held at the Seaman's Bethel in New Bedford on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 11 A.M. A luncheon will follow at the Seaport Inn in Fairhaven, MA. Arrangements were placed in care of the PERRY FUNERAL HOME, 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford.
