Obituary

Harry Garabedian, 101, of Salem, NH died Saturday, September 28th at his home.

Harry, the son of the late Almas (Alexanian) and Americk Garabedian was a lifelong resident of Salem, NH. He lived in the same house for 100 years and he would have turned 102 in December. Harry was in the very first graduating class of Woodbury High School in 1929. He worked on the family farm in his youth, then he began a life-long career in clothing construction and design, working for brands names like Mighty-Mac and London Fog. He was a member of the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church. Harry was awarded the Boston Post Cane in May of 2011, which is awarded to Salem’s oldest resident. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, puttering around the house and taking his wife for a Sunday drive.

He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (Atamian) Garabedian and his siblings.

Harry is survived by his 4 sons, Armand and his wife Ecaterina of Salem, Richard and his wife Kilby of Princeton, MA, Harry and his wife Nancy of Methuen, MA and Michael and his wife Claire of Salem; 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Monday, September 30th from 4-8PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM at the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church, Salem. Burial is in Pine Grove Cemetery, Salem.
