Obituary

Robert P. L’Esperance Sr. 76, of Cass Ave., died Friday at Trinity Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of Jeannette (Desrochers) Gagnon. Born in Blackstone, MA, he was a son of the late Alexander and Mary (Carrigan) L’Esperance. Robert worked as a steeple jack for several area contractors for most of his life. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

Besides his wife he leaves four sons Robert P. L’Esperance Jr. of Burrillville, Robert R. Gagnon and his wife Dina of NH, Paul J. Gagnon and his wife Debra of NC, and David M. Gagnon and his wife Robin of Pawtucket, three daughters, Sharon A. Hill, Joann L’Esperance, and Lisa Marie Smith all of Woonsocket, several grand and great grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters, Helen Leblanc, and Yvonne Carpentier, both of Woonsocket, Rosemary Gritte of Blackstone, and Terry Banache of Millville and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edward, Ernest, and Alexlander L’Esperance, Doris Allard and Mary Barroso.

His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph’s Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be held in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Monday 4-7 PM.
