Obituary

Florida “Flo” Leona (Gagne) Tivey, of Manchester, died on September 27, 2013 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, MA, surrounded by many of those she loved.
She was born in Manchester, NH on October 21, 1926 to Joseph and Odile (Beaudoin) Gagne. She graduated from Ecole Ste. Marie and attended Hesser College, where she studied business.
She married Edward Franklin Tivey, Jr, on June 13, 1953 and was his sweetheart and partner until his death on September 27, 1997. Together, they built a local business, Tivco Enterprises, supplying commercial windows to local universities, hospitals, and schools.
Flo had a lifelong love of travel, especially to her special place, Hawaii. She and Eddie built a vacation home on Lake Winnipesaukee’s Long Island, where they eventually retired. She enjoyed gardening, cooking for friends and family, playing a lively game of cards, and making beautiful hand knitted gifts. She especially loved her faithful dog, Kaiser, and her mischievous tiger cat, Woodie.
While in Moultonborough, she was a parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Church and was also active in the Moultonborough Women’s Club. She was a former parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manchester.
Flo’s greatest love in life was her family, both immediate and extended. She and Ed raised four children: Gary Tivey of Albuquerque, NM, Karen (Jeff) Banks of Citra , Florida , Cheryl Tivey and her husband Alen Yen, of Beverly, MA, and Pamela (Jonathan) Starr of Manchester, NH. She especially enjoyed her role as doting grandmother to Harison (Carley) Starr, Hayden Starr, Dane Hoffman, Langston Starr, Travis Hoffman, Julia Starr, Channing Starr, Griffin Starr, and Miya Tivey Yen. She was predeceased by seven siblings and is survived by a sister, Della Massanotti, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and a brother, Roland Gagne of Texas. She had numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, that she held dear. Among those, her nieces Connie Gaiero and Carmen Thibeault were especially close friends and travel companions.

A funeral service took place on Wednesday, September 2, 2013 at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm Street, Manchester. Burial followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Laconia, NH.
