Obituary

Mozelle I. Watson-Berry, of Worcester, MA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 25th, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. Mozelle was predeceased by her husband Haskell Berry June of 1974, her beloved daughter Linda M. Berry, April of 2000 and her dearly loved grandson Timeco J. Berry, April of 1991 who all passed on to the Glory. She leaves a son, Carl H. “Sonny” Berry and his wife, Susan of Manassas, VA; three daughters, Terry Dean Berry of Clover, SC, Hazel D. Berry and Phyllis J. Berry both of Worcester; a sister, Louise R. Watson-Siegle of Clover, SC; 12 grandchildren, Tracy, Tamara, Terrasse, Tawana, Todd, Jonathan, James, Dawn, Tarkka, Jolanta, Gregory and Carl; 23 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews including Anthony Berry with whom she shared a special bond.
Mozelle was born in Lincolnton, NC, daughter of the late Bennie D. Watson and Hattie Patton-Watson. She worked for St. Vincent’s Hospital from 1968 until her retirement in 1993. Never fully retiring, she continued to provide one-on-one patient care at St. Vincent’s Hospital until present. Mozelle was also a talented seamstress who worked at the former Davies Pocketbook Co., the former Paul’s Hats Co. and the former Ricky’s Bra Co. She was a member of A.M.E. Zion Church where she also served on its Usher Board.
She helped organize a neighborhood crime watch team to help wipe out illegal activity and ensure that landlords were doing their part in promoting a safer neighborhood for the Elm Park Community (P.R.E.P.). Mozelle would walk the neighborhood and talk with anyone, prayed with people and gave time to listen to others concern or issues. She loved to walk around Elm Park for exercise and would meet people of all different faiths and would share information of the topic of the day or what is happening in the neighborhood.
Mozelle’s home has always been a safe house for all of those in need of comfort. She treasured each moment spent in the company of her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1st in A.M.E. Zion Church, 55 Illinois Street with a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Green Pond Methodist Church Cemetery, Clover, SC. Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Monday, September 30th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
