Obituary

Evans- Mrs. Agnes A. Filpus, 86, beloved wife of 63 years of Uno Filpus, entered into rest on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Westwood Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Filpus was a Michigan native. Before moving to Evans in 1990, she was “professional volunteer” in Alpena, Michigan for over 30 years. She was past president of the Alpena public schools Board of Education, a Boy Scout den mother, and past president of the League of Women Voters of Alpena, as well as being active in the Lutheran Church. Her volunteerism was climaxed by being named the Alpena Woman of the Year for 1988, for her contribution to the community. This community involvement continued after moving to the Augusta area.

In addition to her husband, Uno, she is survived by her sons, David Filpus (Cheryl) of Chapel Hill, NC, Paul Edward Filpus-Luyckx (Mary) of Martinez, Thomas Edward Filpus of Augusta and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John Waldemar Filpus.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Filpus was cremated. She requested that no funeral service be held at this time. The family suggests that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
