Obituary

SPENCER: Oda R. (Girouard) Fortin 88, formerly of Howe Village, died Friday, Sept. 27 at Quaboag Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center in W.Brookfield.

She was the wife of Leo Fortin who died in 1984. She leaves two sons Robert L. Fortin and his wife Jeanne of Milford and Philip G. Fortin and his wife Annette of W.Brookfield, four daughters Candy O. Donohue and her husband James of Spencer, Yvette R. Durell and her husband Douglas Sherwin of Westminster, Vt., Linda S. Worthington and her partner Mark Sablack of Sturbridge, and Lisa E. Lapierre and her husband Peter of Spencer, her sister Rose Desmarais of Orleans, Vt., 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

Oda was a printing clerk for Aucoin Printing in Spencer for 25 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the former St. Mary’s Church where she was a member of its’ St. Anne’s Sodality and Women’s Guild.

She enjoyed bingo, trips to the casino, crochet, knitting and dancing.

Born in Irasburg, VT., she was the daughter of Ulderic and Dorilla (Hebert) Girouard.

Oda’s funeral will be held on Monday, Sept. 30 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday from 3 to 5p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mary, Queen of the Rosary Food Pantry, 60 Maple St., Spencer, Ma. 01562.
