Obituary

David E. Winnett, a 38 year resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at his home in Charlestown. He was 70 years old.

David was born in Brockton on May 3, 1943, a son of the late Edward Winnett and Phyllis (Waton) Winnett. He grew up in Whitman where he was educated in the Whitman Public School system. David enlisted into the United States Navy on June 27, 1960 and served his country with pride and dignity during the Vietnam Conflict. He was discharged on October 31, 1969 after 9 years of service to his country with the rank of Boiler Technician, Second Class. He began working at Lahey Clinic in Burlington as an engineer and after 24 years of faithful service to the hospital, he was forced to retire due to health concerns with the position of Assistant Director of Engineering. David was a 38 year honorary member and Past Exhaulted Ruler of the B.P.O.E. Malden Lodge # 965. He enjoyed playing golf, loved the patriots and casinos but most of all enjoyed the quality time he was able to spend with his family.

David is the beloved and loving husband of 38 years to Ann M. (Hagan) Winnett. He is the devoted father of Sandra Winnett, Jason Winnett and David, John and Brian. He is the loving Papa to Brittany Blaikie, Danielle Blaikie and Amanda, Jessica and Christopher. He is the beloved brother of Joanne Noreck, Phyllis Piva, Edward Winnett and Leanne and Darlene.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend David's Funeral on Monday, September 30, 2013 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Interment at The Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne at 1:15 P.M. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2 to 6 P.M. in the funeral home.
