Mildred M. "Millie" (McCoy) Fisher, a 54 year resident of Melrose, entered into eternal life on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital in Melrose following a brief illness. She was 85 years old.
Millie was born in Lynn on January 23, 1928, a daughter of the late James J. McCoy and Catherine E. (Cunningham) McCoy. She grew up in Lynn where she was educated in the Lynn Public School system and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1945. She also attended business school following her graduation from high school. Millie worked as a secretary to the principal at Melrose High School for 24 years and retired in 1992.
Millie is the beloved wife of the late George W. Fisher. She is the devoted mother of William G. Fisher, Kathryn A. Cottrell and her husband James and Sandra J. Gerraughty and her husband Timothy. She is the beloved mother-in-law of Elinor (Pike) Fisher. She is the loving Nana to Stephanie Fisher, Sharon Fisher, Suzanne Thelen and her husband Brian, Matthew J. Cottrell, Sarah Cottrell and "GiGi to her great-grandchildren; Samantha Thelen and Drew Thelen. She is the beloved sister of James J. McCoy and the late Francis J. McCoy and Thomas P. McCoy. She is the beloved aunt of Ruthann Vanella and her husband John and family and many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Millie's Funeral on Friday, September 27, 2013 at 10:30 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 1159 Main St. Melrose followed by her Funeral Mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St. Wakefield at 11:30 A.M. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Visiting hours Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
