FRAMINGHAM: Floyd B. “Bud” Dean, Jr., 88, died peacefully in the care and comfort of his daughters on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his residence in Framingham.
He was born on December 2, 1924 in Brookline the son of the late Floyd B. Dean, Sr. and Laurence M. (Munson) Dean.
Bud was the devoted and loving husband for 51 years of the late Charlotte T. (Brennan) Dean who died on November 27, 2004.
He is survived by his loving and caring daughters Ellen Jane Dean of Framingham; Ms. Laurence M. (Dean) Stace and her husband Joe Stace of Narragansett, RI; Bertha C. Manson and her husband Wes Manson of East Falmouth; Brennan O. Dean of Auburn and Anne Marie Dean of Wayland. Cherished grandfather of Justina J. Zicko; Jonathan C. Dean; David W. Dean and Michael F. Dean. He was the brother of Miss B. Carolyn Dean of Brookline. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bud has been a resident of Framingham for the past 44 years and previously resided in East Walpole. He spent his formative years in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School where he excelled in track. He served his country with honor with the United States Army 10th Armed Division during World War II in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart.
In 1963 while he and his wife raised their daughters, he received his A.S. in Electrical Engineering from Wentworth College in Boston. He began his career with Demambro Electronics in Boston and retired as a Sales Engineer from East Coast Electronics in Medford after over 35 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of a bowling league in East Walpole and served as a lector at St. Mary’s Church for many years. When he and his family moved to Framingham he became active at St. Anselms Church and designed and installed the sound system for the church. He and his wife Charlotte enjoyed dancing and traveling throughout New England especially the mountains in Vermont and the oceans in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine. Bud enjoyed his vegetable garden and growing grapes which he would make into jelly for family and friends. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather to his family whom he loved dearly. One of his greatest joys was preparing Sunday dinners for his family and having them gather each week. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Visitations will be held on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Wayland.
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Saint George’s Church, 80 School St, Framingham.
Interment will follow in the Dean family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Wayland.
