WAYLAND: Alan R. Roberts, 72, died on Thursday, September 5, 2013 following a brief illness.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 28, 1941 the son of the late Karl Roberts and Rosemary (Redington) Roberts.
Alan was the beloved and devoted husband for 37 years of Deborah (Gibson) Roberts of Wayland. He was the father of Kevin, Jeffrey, Stephani, Jennifer and Michael and the grandfather of Alexander, Meghan, Tyler, Ryan, Sienna, Mia and Owen. He was the brother of the late Stuart Roberts and Arlyse Roberts Chadwick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Alan has been a resident of Wayland for the past 36 years and previously resided in Acton, Massachusetts and Manchester, New Hampshire. He graduated from Manchester High School with the Class of 1959 and received his BS in Electrical Engineering from WPI with the Class of 1963. For over 20 years, he was a Technical Editor for the Sperry Research Company in Sudbury before retiring. Alan was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed being outdoors in his yard, camping and spending time in his garden. He prided himself on being able to do all aspects of home improvement and lending a hand to anyone who might need help. He was a history buff and loved to read the daily newspaper. His greatest passion was the time he spent with his family especially his grandchildren whom he adored. He will be greatly missed by his family and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service Celebrating Alan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 53 Cochituate Road (Rte 27), Wayland
Private family interment will be held at the Gibson-Roberts family lot in Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers his family suggests that memorial gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
