Leahy, Rita R. “Jeanie” of Dorchester, passed away on September 22, 2013 at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Edward Leahy. Loving mother of Colin Leahy of Weymouth, Kenneth Leahy of Weymouth, Daniel Leahy and his wife Donna of Marshfield, Jean Croke and her husband Peter of Marshfield and the late Thomas Leahy. Loving grandmother of Brianne, Devyn, Jillian, Christopher, Shauna and Olivia. Dear sister of Elmer MacGillivray and the late Cyril, Urban, Joe and John MacGillivray and Claire DeLuca. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Colin and Julia (MacNeil) MacGillivray. Jeanie was born and raised in Reserve Mines, Nova Scotia. She moved to Dorchester in 1953. Jeanie will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor and generosity. She was a great mother and wonderful grandmother. Jeanie was a woman of faith and great strength. The family would like to thank the Colonial Nursing Home, Weymouth for their care and kindness to Rita over the past four years.
Visiting hours will be held in the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean St., Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Wednesday, September 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, September 26 at 8:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Christine’s Church, 1295 Main St. at 9:00 a.m.
Interment will be held in the MA National Cemetery in Bourne at 11:15 a.m.
