Barbara M. (DaRoza) Ferreira, 84, of Fairhaven passed on to her heavenly Father with whom she will reside forever on Saturday September 21, 2013. She was the wife of the late Horacio "Babe" Ferreira.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, the daughter of the late John and Lillie (Holden) DaRoza, she had lived in Greater New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Christian Fellowship in New Bedford.
Mrs Ferreira was formerly employed at John I. Paulding Company and U.S. Ringbinder, but was also a dedicated homemaker for most of her life.
A diligent worker for her Lord, she was a member of the Fishers of Men Prison Ministry and Journey to Wholeness Food Program. She was a very caring and giving person.
Her family includes son Richard L. Ferreira, his daughter Katherine and his grandchildren, Cameron and Ben; daughter Elaine Willey and husband Russell, their children, Lisa, Falon, and Crystal, their grandchildren, Emma, Faith, Hunter, Zoey, Olivia, and Mason, and her extended Willey family from Maine; son Michael W. Ferreira, his late son, Michael Correia, and his granddaughter Aaliyah; and daughter Linda Ferreira and her son Daniel Dalton; and her siblings, Donald DaRoza, Christina Cabral, and the late William DaRoza. She also leaves her companion, Joseph "Cal" Araujo; and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 764 Hathaway Rd., New Bedford. Cremation will follow and burial will be at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
