Frederick "Ken" Wydler (Mystic), born June 29, 1930, passed away peacefully the morning of September 19, 2013. Ken was the beloved husband of 56 years to Muriel "Kitty" Beebe Wydler. He leaves behind a daughter, Victoria Wydler Brouillard and her husband Roland, daughter Jennifer Bacchiocchi and her husband Aldo John, and his grandchildren, Max and Alex Bacchiocchi. He was predeceased by a son, William Kurt Wydler.
Born in Old Mystic, Ken was the son of Fred and Nellie (Pavelski) Wydler. He lived his life in Mystic, CT, attending Mystic Academy, Robert E. Fitch High School, and UCONN. He served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force before joining the U.S. Coast Guard Band, where he had the honor of performing in both the Inauguration Ceremony and Funeral Procession of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Jr., and many other events of the state before retiring after 16 years of service in 1971. Ken worked as a Sr. Designer at Electric Boat until his retirement.
Ken's primary focus was his family. His favorite times were spent with them, sharing meals and storytelling. He had a great love for music and enjoyed serving his church. He especially enjoyed spending time with his 2 grandsons. Ken was passionate about life, and shared that with everyone he came into contact with. He will be most remembered for his funny anecdotes, sense of humor, and his smile.
In addition to his wife and children, he leaves behind a brother, Robert D. Wydler, his wife Jini Wydler, and a sister-in-law Mariane Wydler, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, James A. Wydler.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 11:00am at the Groton Bible Chapel, Tollgate Road, Groton. Burial will be private for the family. There are no calling hours.
