Obituary

James A. Wordell, 68, of Little Compton died unexpectedly, Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at home. He was husband of Deborah A. (Black) Wordell.
Born in Pawtucket, he was son of the late Herbert F. and Beulah V. (Field) Wordell. Mr. Wordell was a draftsman for various government contractors. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the Army. A graduate of Josephine Wilbur School, he attended Northeastern University in Boston. He was also a member of the Little Compton Volunteer Fire Department and the Little Compton Game Club. James was a founder of the Little Compton Senior Men’s Tennis League and played softball in many leagues for several years.
Including his wife, survivors include 3 sons: Brian Sylvester and his wife Heather of Coventry, RI, Christopher Sylvester of Johnston, RI and Michael Sylvester of Warwick, RI; 2 daughters: Jenn Wordell of Bedford, TX and Elizabeth Moreira and her husband David of Berkley; a brother: Robert M. Wordell of FL; 9 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Leila Larcher, Donald Wordell and Elizabeth Newberry.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at the Potter Funeral Home at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours Friday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Tiverton.
