Herman Willie Griffin, age 86, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, at Shady Acres following an extended illness. Mr. Griffin was born on January 29, 1927 in , GA to the late Willie Griffin and Elizabeth Sutton Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a World War II veteran. He was a member of College Avene Baptist Church for 45 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Virginia Bray Griffin of Douglas, GA, son, Kevin (Jill) Griffin of Douglas, GA, two grandchildren, Kelsey Griffin and Nicholas Griffin both of Douglas, GA, brother-in-law, Billy Bray of Blackshear, GA, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Griffin, Donald Griffin, and J.C. Griffin and two sisters, Edna Walker and Mae Butler.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 from 6-9 pm.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at College Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Rutland and Rev. Mark Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery.
