Obituary

Daniel J. Donovan, Esq., 91, passed away on September 16, 2013 in Beverly Hospital. He was the husband of the late Audrey (Higgins) Donovan, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.
Born in Salem on May 18, 1922, he was the son of the late Philip and Alice (Troop) Donovan. Dan was raised and educated in Middleton. He was a graduate from Holten High School in Danvers, where he was a co-captain of the football team. An honorably discharged WWII Navy veteran, he served in the Pacific.
Dan had his law practice, Donovan & Donovan, in Danvers Square for many years. In addition to being an active trial lawyer, he served as town counsel for Middleton and Danvers and also counsel for Masconomet High School.
A charter member of the Danvers Kiwanis Club, he was a member of the Middleton VFW and the Danvers Touchdown Club.
He is survived by a son Brian L. Donovan of Wakefield, a daughter Marsha Donovan of Danvers and two grandsons, Philip J. and John D. Donovan of Middleton.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9AM on Saturday, September 21, 2013 in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Visiting hours are Friday from 4-7PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in Dan’s name to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development, 875 N. Randolph St., Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
