Obituary

New Bedford – Philip E. Houle, 53, passed away September 16, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Deborah A. (Phaneuf) Houle.

Mr. Houle was born in New Bedford, son of Germaine R. M. (Dagesse) Houle of New Bedford and the late Emile R. Houle, and resided in Acushnet most of his life. He was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a commercial fisherman and also worked as a truck driver for Nova Services, Providence, RI. He always had a joke to share. He loved motorcycles, fishing and most of all spending time with his family.

In addition to his widow and mother, he is survived by 7 stepchildren: Christy Rapoza of New Bedford, Bradford Robinson of Acushnet, Christopher Bouchard of New Bedford, Gene Robinson of New Bedford, Eric Robinson of New Bedford, Joseph Soares of New Bedford and Hannah Soares of New Bedford; 2 brothers: Robert Houle and his wife, Paula, of Assonet and Albert Houle and his wife, Pamela of New Bedford; 2 sisters: Jean Soucy and her husband, Greg, of Attleboro and Margaret Lopes of Dallas, TX; several grandchildren; a great-grandson; his goddaughter: Danielle Lopes; and several nieces & nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend:

Visiting hours on Friday, September 20, 2013, 6:00-9:00 P.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home.

Funeral from the funeral home at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis Xavier Church, Acushnet.

Interment will be private.
