Obituary

CHICOPEE – Claire C. (Pelletier) Thompson, 82, a former resident of the Arbors on Memorial Drive in Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday, September 16, 2013. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at Hampden surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family who were her devoted caregivers. She was born in Springfield on January 20, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Emile J. and Irene H. (Leclerc) Pelletier. She was raised in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, attended local schools and lived in the city for many years. She later lived in Holyoke before moving to the Willimansett section of Chicopee around 1963. She was last employed at the former A.G. Spalding Company in Willimansett. During her leisure time, Claire was often seen at many local bingo games where she enjoyed meeting her many friends. She was a world traveler and made numerous trips to the Virgin Islands, China and Hong Kong. She was a loving woman who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her loving children, Christine M. Borkosky and her husband, Dennis Borkosky, Suzanne M. Wilkins and her husband, David Wayne Wilkins, David M. Thompson and his wife, Lisa Thompson, and Thomas E. Thompson, all of Chicopee; her nine cherished grandchildren, Diane Borkosky, Kimberly Gorczyca and her husband, John Gorczyca, Kate Wilkins and her spouse, Shari Wilkins, Ryan Thompson, Sean Thompson, twins Cory and Eliott Thompson, Joshua Thompson and Jeremy Thompson; her five cherished great-grandchildren, Emma Borkosky, Allie, Spencer and Rilynn Gorczyca and Lila; her dear sister, Jeannette Heath of Belchertown; her former husbands, Frank F. Burdo and Charles E. Thompson; and her many dear nephews and nieces. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear sisters, Hilda Narwcaj, Theresa Barree, Lorraine Blanchette and Yvonne Atwood. Her funeral will be held on Friday morning, September 20, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private for her family at Saint Aloysius Cemetery, 1273 Berkshire Avenue, Indian Orchard, MA 01151. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
