Obituary

Worcester – A. James Vangel, 100, of Auburn, died on Sunday, September 15th at the Knollwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Vangel was married to Sophia (Charles) Vangel, who died in 1997. He is survived by a son, Greg S. Vangel and his wife Janice A. Bodreau of Charlton; a daughter Carolyn J. Corriveau and her husband, Duane J. of Auburn; a brother, George Vangel of Worcester; a sister, Dorothy Goven of Worcester; 4 grandchildren, Tracy L. LeBlanc and her husband Scott, Daryle J. Corriveau and his wife Anissa, Pamela J. Barrett and her husband Lon, and John S. Vangel; 3 great grandchildren, Brooke LeBlanc, Jillian and Olivia Barrett, and many nephews and nieces.

James was born in Worcester, son of the late Michael and Victoria (Soter) Vangel and is also predeceased by 2 sisters, Catherine and Nora and a brother Thomas. Mr. Vangel attended Northeastern University where he earned an associates degree. James was the owner and operator of Auburn Center Market for 32 years. He was a member of the Auburn Athletic Club and the Auburn Lodge of Elks.
