Obituary

WAYLAND: William Franklin Richardson, 96, died peacefully with his wife Helen by his side on Friday, September 13, 2013 at their residence following a period of declining health.
He was born in Malden, Massachusetts on May 21, 1917 the son of the late Waldo Richardson and Etta (Trafton) Richardson.
William is survived by his loving and devoted wife Helen (Keyes) Richardson of Wayland formerly of Framinhgam.
William and Helen have resided in Wayland for many years and also resided in Framingham for several years. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University and had a long and distinguished career with Raytheon that spanned 49 years retiring in 1986. During World War II, he installed and supervised the installation of sonar on battleships through Raytheon. He was a ham radio operator and built his first radio himself. He loved to spend time in Maine with his wife Helen especially at their residence on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. During his youth he was a Captain of a boat and spent summers giving excursions on the lake in Boothbay Harbor.
There will be no funeral home visitations. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 at 10:00 am at the Richardson family lot in Lakeview Cemetery, Commonwealth Rd (Rte 30), Wayland with the Rev. Dr. Bruce A. Pehrson of Community United Methodist Church officiating.
