FALL RIVER… Dorothy C. (Gamage) Verville, 88 of Fall River passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on September 14, 2013.
Dorothy was the wife of the late Norman J. Verville and the late Robert Verville.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Mary Geneva (Marshall) Gamage.
She is survived by her children: Jo-Ann and her husband Stanley Mikulski of Warren, Norman and his wife Rosemarie of Seekonk, John, her caregiver, of Fall River, Gary and his wife Connie of North Dakota, Bette and her husband John Shea of Westport, Donald and his wife Liane of Tiverton, and her son-in-law Charles Szulewski of Fall River, 17 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, her stepsisters: Beatrice (Strickland) Hoglund of Florida and Alice (Strickland) Keegan of Riverside and many nieces and nephews. She was mother of the late Dorothy Szulewski and Charles Verville, sister of her late infant brother Charles Gamage, stepdaughter of the late Marie (Landry) Strickland and stepsister of the late Irene (Strickland) Maddock.
Dorothy was a parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church and a member of the Holy Rosary Society. She was the first president of the Fall River Police Wives Auxiliary, former president and lifetime member of the East End Sportsman’s Auxiliary, former member of the William S. Green Chapter of the D.A.V. Auxiliary and member of the 1943 graduation class of East Providence High School.
Dorothy cherished her time spent with family and friends, especially her good friend, Blanche Sampson. She enjoyed Bingo, attending her class reunions and the companionship of her Quaker Parrot, Sammy.
Her funeral and celebration of her life to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 9 AM from the BOYKO MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 709 Broadway, Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at Holy Cross Church, 47 Pulaski St. Fall River. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Call Hours are Wednesday morning from 9 – 10:30 AM.
