Obituary

Kanter, Harry 94 of Revere and formerly of Chelsea passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 15, 2013. Harry was born April 19, 1919 in Chelsea, MA. He attended the Chelsea School System and was a graduate of Chelsea High School, Class of 1938. Harry was a member of the Chelsea High School Men’s Basketball State Champions, 1938. Harry proudly served in WWII in the medical unit of the 3rd Army with General Patton. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans. Harry was a long time member of Temple Emmanuel and a member of the Temple Emmanuel Brotherhood.

Harry was the beloved husband of Laura (Caras) Kanter. He was the devoted father of Alan Kanter and his wife Debbie and Paul Kanter and his wife Diane. He was the loving son of the late Isaac and Rebecca Kanter. Harry was the dear brother of the late, Joseph Kanter, William Kanter, Louis Kanter and Murray Kanter, Goldie Cohen, Yetta Lampert, Eva Katz, and Anne Kramer. He was the loving grandfather of Jonathan Kanter and his wife Katie, Jennifer Kanter, Jason Kanter, Stacy Stevens and her husband Grady, Joshua Kanter, Jillian Kanter and Alyssa Kanter. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Mason Royer, Ethan Kanter and Ryan Kanter.

Services at Temple Emmanuel, 60 Tudor Street Chelsea on September 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Danvers. Donations in Harry’s memory may be made to Temple Emmanuel of Chelsea, 60 Tudor Street Chelsea, MA 02150. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Alan and Debbie Kanter immediately following the interment until 8:00 PM and Wednesday 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the Jack Satter House and will resume 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM again at the home of Alan and Debbie Kanter.
