Obituary

Edward F. Flood, 75, of New Bedford died September 15, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John F. and Mary M. (McQuade) Flood, he lived in Fairhaven before returning to New Bedford in 1979.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish.
Mr. Flood was formerly employed as fleet superintendent for My Bread Baking Company for many years until his retirement in 2002. He formerly worked part-time for the New Bedford Harbor Development Commission.
Mr. Flood was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard 1/211 artillery and served active duty during the Berlin Crisis. Mr. Flood enjoyed the ocean and camping at Horseneck Beach camp ground with his family.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Roberta Bernier of New Bedford; two sons, David Flood and Timothy Flood, both of New Bedford; a daughter, Susan St. Pierre and her husband Roger of New Bedford; a brother, Stephen Flood of New Bedford; two sisters, Mary Blanchard and her husband Roland of New Bedford and Elizabeth Haskell of California; a granddaughter, Courtney; two grandsons, Christopher and Austin; two step-grandsons, Kyle and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Korbin and Logan Gonneville; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late John F. Flood, Jr.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Thursday, September 19th at 9 AM. Funeral Mass at at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 18th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Society c/o Holy Name Church 121 Mt. Pleasant St. New Bedford, MA 02740.
