Obituary

TEWKSBURY: Mary Isabelle (Kennedy) Millett, R.N., age 72, a longtime Tewksbury resident and nurse, died Thursday, September 9th at her home.

She was the wife of Emmet R. Millett with whom she recently celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary.

Born in Charlestown on December 15, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Mary I. (Fralick) Kennedy.

Mrs. Millett was educated in Lowell schools and graduated from Lowell High School with the Class of 1949. During her high school years, she was a Major in the Girl Officers Association.

In 1951, she completed the Tewksbury Hospital School of Nursing Program.

Mrs. Millett went on to complete the Northern Essex Community College Nursing Program and received her Registered Nurse Associates Degree in 1971.

In 1978, she graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelors Degree in Health Science.

Mrs. Millett was a member of the Northeastern University Alumni, Sigma Epsilon RHO Honor Society, the Retired Massachusetts State Employee Association and the Tewksbury Senior Citizen Group.

She worked at the Tewksbury State Hospital for her entire nursing career and retired as the Assistant Director of Nursing in 1989 after 38 years of service.

Mary is survived by her husband; Emmet; 4 children; Mary Jo (Millett) Field and her husband Steve, Emmet R. Millett, Jr. and his wife Laurel (Sykes), John F. Millett and his wife Sandi (Heath) and Martha A. (Millet) Vaughn and her husband Dave; her 9 grandchildren; Lucy (MacRae) Brassard, MaryEllen MacRae, Evan, Emily, Hillary, Molly and Michael Millett, Shelby and Matthew Vaughn; her great grandchild; Erich Brassard; 3 sisters; Kathryn Martino, Jessie Kennedy and Josephine Karner; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Millett was the sister of the late Anne Brooks and Louise York.

Calling hours Sunday, September 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the FARMER & DEE FUNERAL HOME, 16 LEE ST., TEWKSBURY. Funeral Monday, September 13th at 9 a.m. from the funeral home. Funeral Mass Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery.
