Gilda (Albernaz) Lima, age 82 of Somerset, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2013surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Edmund J. Lima. Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Correia) Albernaz.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Robert E. Lima (wife Susan) of Somerset and one daughter, Patricia A. Affonso (late husband David) of Swansea. Grandmother of Anthony Costa (wife Allison), Andrew Lima and Matthew Lima of Somerset. Great “Stepper” to Carissa, Sabrina, and Issac Affonso.
Sister of the late Manuel, Antone, John, Joseph, James, and George Albernaz, Mary Albernaz, Matilda Oliveira and Irene Cabral. Several nieces and nephews.
Gilda was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset, a member of the Somerset VFW Post 8500 Ladies Auxiliary and a volunteer with the Fall River Council on Aging. She enjoyed her yearly vacations with her family, as well as trips to Foxwoods.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, INC. 1521 N. Main St. MONDAY at 8:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset at 9:30 A.M.
