VAICJURGIS, VALERIJA 92, of Dorchester, Sept. 11, 2013. Predeceased by her husband Juozas Vaicjurgis & her sons Tautvydas & Arvydas. Loving mother of Birute Slezas & her husband Romas. Cherished grandmother of Saulius Slezas. Beloved sister of the late Albinas Liauba & the late Eugenija Azelis. Also survived by her sister-in-law Jane Liauba as well as nephews & nieces. She was born in Lithuania. During WWII she fled from the approaching Soviet army with her family & spent six years in UN displaced persons camps. She arrived in the U.S. in 1950 & settled in Boston. There she worked in the accounting departments of Elm Farm Foods & later Tufts NEMC until retirement. She was active in the Lithuanian community & contributed articles to the Lithuanian press. She sang with the St. Peter Church choir in South Boston up until this year, joyously participating in the musical liturgy with her lovely soprano voice. Visiting hours are at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St., South Boston, on Friday 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM in St. Peter Lithuanian Church, 75 Flaherty Way, South Boston. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.
