Methuen, MA – Anna M. (Sapienza) Zanfagna, 91, of Methuen, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2013 at her daughter's home in Salem, NH. She was the beloved wife of the late Otto J. Zanfagna.
Born in Lawrence on December 7, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Santo and Grace (Magri) Sapienza. Anna worked at Playstead Pharmacy in Lawrence for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church in Methuen. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling, baking her own cakes for special events, reading, and playing bingo.
Anna will be deeply missed by her 2 daughters, Jean M. Castonguay and Joyce A. Jordan of Salem, NH; close friend, Jan Ethier; brother, John D. Sapienza and his wife, Winifred of Windham, NH; sister, Milfred L. Palermo and her husband, Ansel of Methuen; 3 grandchildren, Sgt 1st Class, Raquelle Castonguay of Utah, Derek Castonguay of Manchester, NH, and Joshua Jordan and his wife, Tabitha of Salem, NH; 2 great grandchildren, Samantha and Seth; and her many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Anna's life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Friday, September 13, 2013 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, September 14th at 11 AM at St. Lucy's Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen.
