Obituary

Our loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend peacefully passed away Saturday September 7, 2013 surrounded by those she loved. After a brief struggle of exhaustion and old age, she entered God's loving embrace early Saturday Morning around 9:20AM.
After an enriched life full of love and kindness, generosity, and humility she left this world to join our Heavenly Father in the next.
Rose Celina Garcia was born into a loving family in Rifle Colorado on March 17, 1931 and what a special day that was! Her father Manuricio Lopez and her mother Hursinia Trujillo gave birth to four other children Viola, Stella,Carol, and Nora. Later in her life Hursinia married Lee Tores and gave birth to four more children Norma, Leroy, Linda, and Jerry. She was born and raised in Colorado and would often share with us memories of her childhood, the ranch that she lived on, the trees she would climb, and the games her and her brothers and sisters would play. As an adolescent she attended and graduated from Mt. St. Euphraisia an all girls nunnery which she became very proud of and where she developed more faith in Jesus Christ.. After her graduation from school, she married John Garcia in Denver, Colorado and later moved to Los Angeles where they gave birth to four healthy children: Jon, Dennis, Gena, and Mario. Years after she met Charles Garcia who became the father of her last child Patricia and in 1978 she met Frank Torres who lived with her in her remaining years. Then in her mid to late 60's Frank and Rose moved to a quiet peaceful home in Ojai, California. A place she would come to love in her later years, she would even call it her "mountain house", because it reminded her of her childhood home in Rifle. They even had several dogs over those years who became very dear to them both. That's when she developed an affinity for Terriers. It was also around this time her love for her family's history grew and she would often tell us of our family tree. After 20 years of living in Ventura county she finally moved to Ventura where she was closer to her two daughters and grandkids.
She left a deep and profound impact on those who were close to her. Rose loved to make blankets, scarfs, ceramics and other projects for those she loved. she had a very natural love and talent for the crafts she would make. Everyone loved and treasured her crafts and many found inspiration in her work. For many years the things she would make us gave her and us much joy and purpose. Many memories were shared by the gifts she would make. She was generous and not at all selfish, always giving even when she had nothing left to give. She loved to share her stories and memories with all who would listen. In the end she held nothing back and loved everyone as her own. Her life was an was an open book for all share and read and for years to come we will still tell stories in her name, to our children's children and their children for she was such a strong foundation in our family. We will always hold you in our hearts, with much gratitude, love and humility, for your life and the love for all things was such an inspiration to all of us!
May your soul reunite with loved ones and take shelter in God's everlasting house.
