Hudson, MA
Edna J. (Turner) Taranto, 81, of Hudson, died on Tuesday, Sept. 10th at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Felice R. “Sonny” Taranto.
Edna was born and raised in Waltham, daughter of the late Joseph and Eva (Stewart) Turner. She attended local schools in Waltham and has resided in Hudson since 1966. She was employed as a deli clerk for many years with Price Chopper and the former Big D supermarkets in Hudson and Marlboro until her retirement. Edna was an active member of the Hudson Senior Center. She enjoyed the many activities the center offered and especially looked forward to playing bingo and taking trips to Foxwoods. Edna enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished her time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her three children, Diane Coolidge of Berlin, Linda Shwartz and her husband Robert of Hudson and Lisa Hassett and her husband Jaime of Hudson. She is also survived by her sister, Eleanor Gaines of Bristol, RI; her brother, Joseph H. Turner Jr. of Billerica; her seven loving grandchildren, Holly Frank of Maryland, Michelle Bonner of Berlin, Cody Coolidge of Berlin, Rachel, Rebecca and David Shwartz all of Hudson and Nicholas Hassett of Hudson along with many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Caroline Davock and Robert S. Turner.
A funeral service and celebration of Edna’s life will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14th at 9:00 a.m. in the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 (www.tighehamilton.com). Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham, MA. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 13th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
