Obituary

Mr. Giacomo A. Rizzo, Jr., a Medford resident for over fifty years passed away on September 7th, at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He was 78. Jack, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends was the beloved husband of Roberta A. (Barry) and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Somerville Jack was the son of the late Giacomo and Maria (Forte) Rizzo.

Jack was raised and educated in Somerville. He honorably served in both the Army National Guard during the Korean War and was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War. When he returned from the service he began his career in the trucking and transportation industry. He owned and operated the A & A Transportation Co. of Medford for many years and eventually retired from the MBTA where he began working as a blacksmith and later worked in management prior to his retirement in 1999 following nearly 25 years of employment. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers Union Local 651.

Mostly devoted to his beloved wife, together they enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in the Ft. Myers, FL area. Jack was also passionate about golfing and was a former member of the Indian Ridge County Club in Andover and for many years he organized and ran many different golfing leagues at several golf courses in the area.

In addition to his wife, Jack is survived one brother and one sister and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Wednesday, September 11th, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Dello Russo Funeral Home will be held on Tuesday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
